Bozena Bosko is a renowned, academically trained painter from Slovakia. She primarily focuses on figurative painting, as well as portraits. Her inspiration includes artists such as Van Gogh.

For years I have been using the touch of the brush to transfer my visual perceptions onto the canvas. I’m a visual painter. I currently use photographs I have taken to ponder what I have seen and experienced. For me, a monochromatic scale provides a natural transition between drawing and painting; it is a reaction to the previous periods of mostly abstract colorful painting. At this time I perceive color as a creative element that is often distracting. On large-sized canvases I alternate between a thick spread and a wide brush with thin paint running down and adding the feeling of authenticity to the style. Figural themes with autobiographical character allow me to explore the peculiarities of a human self; they are the closest to my heart.
